Stock Accountant

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Stock Accountant to join our Finance team. You will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate inventory records and financial reporting related to our inventory. Your responsibilities will include managing stock transactions, analyzing variances, and preparing reports to support inventory control and purchasing decisions. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Stock Reconciliation: 

Reconcile stock records with physical inventory counts, identifying discrepancies and investigating their causes.

• Stock Transactions: 

Process stock transactions, including receipts, shipments, and adjustments. Ensure accuracy and timely recording of all stock movements. 

• Inventory Valuation: 

Calculate and maintain accurate cost of goods sold (COGS) and inventory value using appropriate accounting methods. 

• Variance Analysis: 

Analyze stock variances (e.g., discrepancies between expected and actual stock levels) to identify trends and potential issues. 

• Reporting: 

Prepare regular reports on inventory levels, stock movements, and any related variances for management review. 

• Stock Control: 

Assist in implementing and improving stock control procedures to ensure optimal stock levels and minimize stock losses. 

• Compliance:

Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and inventory management policies. 

• Other Duties: 

Assist with other accounting tasks as assigned, including month-end closing procedures. 

Qualifications: 

• Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting.  

• Experience: Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in a stock accounting or inventory control role. 

• Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software, inventory management systems (e.g., Microsoft Excel. Strong understanding of inventory valuation methods (FIFO, LIFO & Weighted average). 

• Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and accuracy. 

• Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 

• Organization and Time Management: Highly organized and efficient with strong time management skills. 

• Teamwork: Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
