We are seeking a proactive and enthusiastic Junior IT Support Specialist to join our team on a part-time basis. This role involves providing desktop and network support, assisting with IT projects, and contributing to the migration of our IT infrastructure, including changes to firewall solutions and a transition to a hybrid cloud environment.

Position Type: Part-Time (10 to 14 hours per week)

Job Summary: As a Junior IT Support Specialist, you will provide essential support for desktop and network systems, assist with IT projects, and help manage the migration of our IT infrastructure. This includes transitioning to a hybrid cloud environment, updating firewall solutions, and supporting VPN connectivity. You will collaborate with European partners as needed, though their involvement will be limited after migration. The role requires a quick learner who can adapt to new technologies and processes. This position is part-time, and you will work closely with the senior IT specialist, who will be available on a limited basis, typically once a week.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Desktop and Network Support:
   • Provide technical assistance for end-users, addressing issues with desktops, laptops, printers, and peripherals.
   • Support the administration and maintenance of network infrastructure, including routers, switches, and firewalls.
   • Assist with VPN setup and troubleshooting to ensure secure remote access.
2. IT Project Assistance:
   • Help with IT projects, including updates and improvements to the company’s web page and Quality Management System (QMS) applications.
   • Support the senior IT specialist with project tasks, ensuring timely and effective execution.
3. Migration and Cloud Solutions:
   • Assist in the migration of data from NAS to a hybrid cloud environment, including the transition to new firewall solutions.
   • Help implement and manage automated backup solutions for mission-critical data, while maintaining local storage for sensitive information.
   • Support the configuration and deployment of new firewall solutions to enhance network security.
4. Collaboration and Support:
   • Work with European partners to access shared resources, including file systems, SharePoint, and business information systems during the migration.
   • Provide support for remote access solutions and ensure smooth communication with international teams, although their involvement will be minimal after the migration phase.
5. Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving:
   • Identify and resolve technical issues efficiently, escalating more complex problems to the senior IT specialist when necessary.
   • Document troubleshooting processes and solutions for future reference.
6. User Training and Support:
   • Assist in training end-users on new systems and applications, providing guidance and support as needed.
   • Develop and maintain user guides and documentation.
7. Compliance and Documentation:
   • Follow company policies and procedures to ensure IT security and compliance.
   • Maintain accurate records of IT assets, configurations, and changes.
8. User Empowerment:
   • Train end users on common IT protocols to empower them to address routine IT challenges independently.  
   • Offer guidance on best practices to help prevent future issues after resolving reported IT problems. 
   • Ensure that users understand what to do and what to avoid maintaining system efficiency and security.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field.
• Recent graduates are encouraged to apply; a strong willingness to learn and grow in the IT field is essential.
• Basic experience in desktop and network support, gained through internships or academic projects, is a plus.
• Familiarity with VPN technology and remote access solutions.
• Basic knowledge of web technologies and applications.
• Understanding of firewall solutions and network security is a plus.
• Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies and processes.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively with both local and international teams.

 Desired Skills (not mandatory):

• Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or similar are a plus.
• Experience with cloud services and backup solutions is advantageous.
• Familiarity with file sharing, SharePoint, and business information systems.
